In 2009, Adacel received a new contract to develop and supply its Aurora Air Traffic Management system to Airports Fiji Limited (Now Fiji Airports Limited). The new ATM system was to be installed in the Area Control Center (ACC) and in the control towers at Nadi and Nausori airports.
We were excited. And we got to work.
Less than a year later, the team successfully completed the Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for Fiji's new Aurora ATM system. The first Aurora system was commissioned at the Nadi Centre in May 2010 to control Fiji's large oceanic airspace. Following the system's warranty, Fiji Airports awarded a long-term contract to Adacel to support it.
In 2018, Airports Fiji Limited awarded a new contract to Adacel, to upgrade the system hardware, the operating system, and to support ADS-B surveillance-based separation within its airspace.
And while the best is yet to come in our business journey with Fiji Airports Limited, in 2021, together we reached a historical milestone: The new Aurora ATM system integrating oceanic, approach, and tower control capabilities went operational.
